As such, it covers all the basic and applied problems for the illumination optics community, including luminaire and lighting design from traditional light sources to LED, via optical platforms such as reflectors, condenser lens and lenlets array, lightpipe, and Fresnel lens. Using this approach readers learn the basic blocks for integration for later applications and development, while common schemes of illumination and classical illumination schemes are illustrated to provide simplified and well-proven approaches to creating initial designs and handling complex applications efficiently.
The text also features end-of-chapter summaries and problems sets, appendices on patents, and a glossary, while a dedicated ftp site provides colored figures and TracePro/LightTools/ASAP codes.
